In Episode 4 of Trinity Blood
Abel and Esther are taken to Count Gyula and learn that he plans to use a system called the "Star of Sorrow" to annihilate the humans of Istvan. Gyula's wife loved humans and built the Star of Sorrow to provide energy for to help them. While out on the city aiding humans, she was murdered, prompting Gyula's hatred for humans and desire for revenge. The three discover that Dietrich, who was also working for Gyula, reprogrammed the Star to destroy the world in an effort to restart the war between Terrans (humans) and Methuselahs (vampires). Abel destroys the star and Gyula kills himself.
